Hello and thank you for popping in to meet us. The-Stitchery, as an established haberdashery or creative shop has served the Lewes community for over 20 years, initially as Cade Craft, then as the-stitchery (Lewes) up until February 2026, and now as The-Stitchery Shop!
About Us
The mantle was taken up by current owner, Beth, who had worked in the shop for three years before taking over and comes from a creative retail background with experience in product buying, system management and counting buttons.
She also has a seperate business as a hand embroidery artist and tutor, designing Stitchscape kits (which you can buy in the shop) and teaching creative embroidery workshops.
In her spare time, Beth crochets (blankets mainly) and dabbles in quilting, macrame and general crafting through her role in GirlguidingUK so, if you have a creative conundrum she’s always willing to work through your project to find a solution with some outside-of-the-box thinking.
Crochet-queen Caroline had also worked in the-stitchery before it was sold and comes from a teaching background (with the patience of a saint). She is a keen knitter and crocheter with an interest in anything creative and is just a really lovely person, always ready to help with a smile.
Emma is fairly new to working in a haberdashery setting but she is absolutely not a novice! With her own separate alterations and repair business, and upcycled fashion brand she is at her happiest with a creative challenge or colour matching threads to trims and fabrics for the perfect project combo.
We are a small and friendly team here at The-Stitchery Shop. We try to meet every challenge with a smile and sense of humour, and you can usually find us puzzling with parents over World Book Day costumes,
grappling with knitting patterns for one of the Lewes Bonfire Societies, or working out apron fabric quanties for local school projects.
We cover a wide range of subjects between us, from mending and darning, to all things yarny, to patchwork and english paper piecing, hand embroidery and everything in between!
Spreading the love
As well as selling the ‘stuff’ for you to play with, we are also keen to spread the joy and encourage you to have a go with regular workshops.
