the-S box August is out! it’s Box No 38 and it’s simply Bunting
Anyone who knows the-Stitchery will know just how much we love our bunting!
Making up a run of little flags is a quick sewing fix to take you to a happy, creative place. So much joy with such little effort! With the simplest elements, you can instantly transform the dullest, smallest space into a place to celebrate, party or chill.
For August, the–S box contains 2 ready-made cotton, fat quarter packs which we have teamed with four plain-coloured fabrics and just under 10 m of tape and even a reel of thread to make it oh-so-easy to create beautiful bunting, perfect pennants and fabulous flags…
Here’s some of our ideas to ring the changes from single layer, pinked-edge, traditional triangular bunting
Make it mini We made miniature scaled bunting in May last year to decorate a bed head. It was soooo sweet, Try mini bunting in your kitchen window and smile when you wash up
Decorate it Add a pom pom or two (or three). Or even ric rac, bells or tassels
Fill it Fill every flag with lavender-what a FAB idea! Give it a squeeze as you walk by and fill the room with a gorgeous scent (and help to keep those pesky little clothes moths at bay) –we’re gong to hang some in the-stitchery
Let it talk Add a message to your bunting, by appliqué-ing a letter to each. Celebrate a birth, a wedding or a special day. We made bunting for our shop fascia (with a decorative reverse side too so it looked good from both sides)
Change up the shapes We’ve seen flowers, hearts, Christmas trees and even snow flakes. Perfect for stair banisters and mantlepieces
Choose a theme For example, why not make Bunting for your beach hut in a nautical fabric with rope instead of tape. We made a beach hut bunting apron…
