Take a slice of the seaside wherever you go with this beautiful beach hut inspired Stitchscape kit, by designer Beth Power, of Dotty Textiles; complete with real shells to stitch on. It’s the perfect project to take with you on the go and add a few stitches here and there and, due to the nature of the fabric prints and your own placement of the templates each ‘scape will turn out differently, making yours truly one of a kind!

The kit includes all of the fabrics (including gorgeous 100% Cotton Makower prints, cotton calico and a soft wool/viscose blend felt), beautiful ric rac and ruffle trimmings, seed beads, real shells and embroidery threads, but you will need to have to hand a 15cm (6″) embroidery hoop, sewing cotton (for tacking), differed eye sized needles, including beading, and scissors.

The embroidery is created using layers of pre-printed cotton fabrics which are then embellished with a variety of hand stitches to create a beautifully textured piece. With the inclusion of a beautiful, large repeat shell inspired fabric, each kit will have slightly different shell elements for this layer which may not be exactly as pictured above. Additional instructions have been provided to cover all elements, as well as instructions for including your own shells if you would like to incorporate those in alongside the ones provided.

Within your booklet are diagrams for how to make each stitch, photos of the original example, handy tips and detailed stitch-a-long instructions. You also receive two separate insert pages with template pieces to cut out and draw around.

The shells have been ethically sourced from the UK from a company who saves them as a by-product of the fishing industry. They are pre-drilled for ease of use but as they are a natural product, there will be some differences in size, pattern and possibly colour.

Once the embroidery is completed, you can either frame it in the hoop or mount it in a beautiful frame to finish the piece off.
